Seller stories

Six ordinary adverts, run through the product.

Real second-hand listings, at their real asking prices, with the photos their sellers actually published. We took each one through AutoStudio to show what the render moves and what it leaves alone.

These are public adverts rather than customers, and the sellers are not named. AutoStudio is in early access, so there are no verified customer stories to publish yet. Rather than invent them, here is the next most useful thing: the product doing its job on cars nobody chose for it.

The photo

Photographed on a residential street in the middle of the afternoon, with parked cars down both sides and the seller’s own shadow stretched across the tarmac into the shot.

What survived it

The plate stays blanked exactly as the seller left it, the plain wheel covers are the same ones, and the car sits where it sat in the frame. The only thing missing is the street.

The photo

A gravel yard, a fence, and two other cars parked close enough to crowd the frame. The cheapest car on this page, and the one whose photo was working hardest against it.

What survived it

The stubby roof aerial, the plain wheel covers and the dated grille, all carried across as they were. A thirteen-year-old budget hatchback still looks like one.

The photo

Shot into the sun in an industrial yard by the water, with a mesh fence, a warehouse and a hazy sky filling everything behind the car.

What survived it

The yellowed headlight lens, the chrome fog-lamp surrounds and the original alloys, carried across as they were. A quarter of a million kilometres still reads as a quarter of a million kilometres.

Fiat 500 2022

The photo

Parked tight against a wall in a residential car park, close enough that the wall’s painted mural sits directly behind the car and competes with it.

What survived it

The seller had blurred their own number plate before uploading, and it comes back blurred, because the render copies what the photo shows rather than reconstructing what it hides. The air freshener is still on the mirror.

The photo

Cobblestones by the river, with a kiosk, a jetty and moored boats behind it. A pleasant photograph of a place, and a poor photograph of an estate car.

What survived it

The lit fog lamp and the blanked plate exactly as the seller left it. The estate's long roofline sits where it sat on the quayside.

Toyota Auris 2012

The photo

Kerbside against a hedge on a bright day, with trees overhead throwing a mess of reflections across the roof and the side glass.

What survived it

The yellowed headlight, the hubcaps and the tyre lettering are untouched. The trees it was parked under are gone from the glass and the roof, because those reflections belonged to the street, not to the car.

Each of these passed validation on the first attempt. They are shown as the engine returned them. The one deliberate change: we blurred the number plates on the source photos before rendering, and the render carried the blur through, because these sellers are not our customers and their plates are not ours to publish. The measurements behind the rest are published in full.
